The Eighty-Eight Resort & Spa (Maldives)

CONCEPT

The Eighty-Eight Resort & Spa is set against a backdrop of pristine waters, immaculate landscape and unobstructed views to create infinite moments of happiness. A unique melange of extravagant elegance and spirituality, The Eighty-Eight Resort & Spa creates the comfortable yet luxury feeling when landing on the shores of this paradise-like atoll.

A UNIQUE MELANGE OF EXTRAVAGANT ELEGANCE AND SPIRITUALITY

Innovative architecture was coupled with the island’s organic infinity shape to create an environmental.

socially-sustainable island during its reclaim as one of the last and most exclusive lagoons in the area. To echo the spirituality of the concept via the use of art in all its form, precious local materials made of timber hard wood sourced from neighbouring countries, have been fused with the best advanced smart technologies to enthral visitors with a true multicultural experience by delivering a gem of architectural artistry and hospitality.

Offering panoramic and endless ocean views, access to coral reef dive sites and a private lagoon for all types of water sports, The Eighty-Eight Resort & Spa will feature 88 magical villa accommodations with tropical gardens, private pools including beach villas and VIP overwater villas.

RECLAIMED ISLAND:

What we envisage with the reclamation work on the lagoon is a metamorphosis into a resort that celebrates life and water while embracing its conceptual theme of ‘Infinity’.

We want to “save” the lagoon by fighting the rising sea level and recreate life (Marine / Vegetation). Sustainability, efficiency & eco-friendliness are the basis of our foreseen theme that will offer our guests all available options to enhance their lives in an idealist natural setting: our own interpretation of paradise.

THE ARCHITECTURE OF INFINITY:

The architectural concept of infinity was scaled from the existing land which initially had an infinity shape and was further carved to fulfil the resort’s concept masterplan.

Infinity is the quality or state of endlessness or unboundedness in terms of time, space, or other quantity. At the resort, this translates into endless views, boundless attractions and things to do, absolute fun and everlasting memories in every sense of the word.

In Chinese culture, the understanding of luck is intrinsic to the infinity concept. There is also a visual resemblance between the Chinese lucky number “8”, and the infinity symbol; which has inspired the actual island’s design and architecture, adding to the charm and mystique of the 88 iconic villas.
